State Bird : Jujurana (Western Tragopan)
Jujurana (Western Tragopna) is the state bird of Himachal Pradesh.it was accorded the status of state bird of Himachal Pradesh in 2007. Jujurana (Western Tragopna) a medium-sized brightly plumaged pheasant found along the Himalayas from Hazara in northern Pakistan in the west to Uttarakhand with india to the east. Jujurana (Western Tragopna) popularly known as the ‘King of the Birds’.
State Tree : Deodar
Deodar (Cedrus deodara) is the state tree of Himachal Pradesh.it is a species of cedar native to their western Himalayas,occurring at 1500-3200 altitude.The specific epithet ‘Deodara’ is derived from the Sanskrit ‘Devadaru’, refers to ‘tree of the gods’ or ‘timber of the gods’.it is the strongest Indian coniferous wood owing to its anti-fungal,insect-repellent and anti-bacterial properties.it uses as valuable construction material
State Animal: Snow Leopard
Snow Leopard (Panthere Uncia) is declared as the state animal of Himachal Pradesh.Snow Leopard popularly known as the mountain monarach is a moderately large cat native to the mountain ranges of Central Asia. It has been categorized as endangered by the international union for conservation of nature (IUCN).
State Flower : Pink Rhododendron
Pink Rhododendron is the state flower of Himachal Pradesh. Pink Rhododendron is found in very few regions of Himachal Pradesh. its botanical name is rhododendron campanulatum. It is a very beautiful flower with pink colored petals .According to the reports of international union for conservation of Nature (IUCN),Pink Rhododendron comes under the endangered species of flower.
Himachal Day
Himachal Pradesh came into being on 15th april 1948 as centrally administered chief commissioner’s province. Since then 15th april is celebrated every year as Himachal day.
Statehood Day
On 25th January, 1971 Himachal Pradesh got the status of full fledged state. Since then 25th January is celebrated every year as statehood day. On this day in 1971 Himachal Pradesh became 18th state of Indian Union.
