Parts of Ms-Excel Windows
The MS Excel window is the main interface of the spreadsheet application. It consists of several parts that allow you to create, edit, format and analyze data. Some of the main parts of the MS Excel window are:
- Quick Access Toolbar: This toolbar is located in the upper left corner of the screen. It shows the most frequently used commands, such as Save, Undo, Redo, etc. We can customize it by adding or removing commands.
2) File menu : This tab is located next to the Quick Access Toolbar. It opens the Backstage view, where we can access options such as New, Open, Save, Print, etc.
3) Title Bar: The Title Bar is at the top of the Excel window and displays the name of the currently open workbook. It also contains the standard Windows control buttons (close, minimize, maximize/restore).
4) Ribbon: The Ribbon is the horizontal toolbar just below the Title Bar. It consists of tabs (e.g., Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, etc.), each containing groups of related commands and functions. We can access various tools and features of Excel through the Ribbon. The groups are subcategories within each tab, such as Clipboard, Font, Alignment, etc. The commands are buttons or icons that perform specific actions, such as Cut, Copy, Paste, Bold, etc.
5) Formula Bar: The Formula Bar is below the Ribbon and displays the content of the currently selected cell. We can enter or edit cell data and formulas here. It also provides access to the Function Wizard for complex calculations.
If Formula bar is not displayed in the window then perform the following steps to display the Formula bar in window.
1) Click on View Tab.
2) Click on Formula Bar under Show/Hide Group
6) Worksheet Tabs: At the bottom of the Excel window, we’ll find worksheet tabs. Each tab represents a separate worksheet within the workbook. By clicking on these tabs, we can switch between different sheets in the same workbook.
7) Status Bar: This bar is located at the bottom of the window. It shows information about the current workbook, such as Zoom level, Page Layout view, Calculation mode, etc. It also shows some basic calculations for selected cells, such as Sum, Average, Count, etc.
8) Scroll Bars: These bars are located at the right and bottom edges of the window. They allow us to move up and down or left and right in the worksheet area.
9) Sheet Tabs: These tabs are located below the Scroll Bars. They show the names of the worksheets in the workbook. we can add, delete or rename worksheets by clicking on these tabs.
10) Name Box: Name box shows the address of the current selection or active cell. It is also used to go a specific cell. In the Name box, type the cell name and then press Enter key. Perform the following steps to go cell number A5 by using name Box:
1) Type A5 in the Name box.
2) Press Enter.
